I am giggling a bit to myself while writing down my latest realization here. Here it goes:
I am no longer striving to be cool. I really wanted to be.
I want - and want to be one of - the warm people. The sincere, honest, inviting and warm people.
I remember a time when I thought that the only way to have a good life is to be egotistic. Oh boy, did I learn things that changed that! Taking care of one’s own needs is not egotistical, it’s love. And it doesn’t mean to exclude others, it’s the opposite. It’s to let those who want to be a part of it be a part of it. It’s expressing needs, knowing there is no need to push.
It took a lot of trust and patience to get here and even though it wasn’t easy, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. What I ended up with now is the joy of being surrounded by a bunch of warm, loving, understanding, intelligent, caring people and a reminder to implement those qualities myself.
I took an amazing Vinyasa class at
@joyyoga_oslo together with
@emiliethun taught by
@sigridsetsaas yesterday evening and I’ve been feeling all warm, fuzzy and content since. Sigrid talked about trust and I felt that. Practicing surrounded by other yogis and friends is magic - I felt that too.
Yoga just works.
What I am trying to say is that I am grateful for still learning, for all the lovely people in my life, for yesterday’s wonderful asana practice and for being able to look back and cheering on my little confused past self, knowing that it’ll learn, heal and reflect.
