Introducing the new MB4W tuba mouthpiece. This mouthpiece was requested by Les Neish who was using the MB4 but felt at times he needed something with a slightly bigger throat. We therefore designed the MB4W which has a throat measuring 8.7mm, to achieve this we had to make very slight changes to the cup profile also. All the other dimensions are the same as the original MB4. Les uses this mouthpiece for his day to day playing. For orchestral work he uses the MB3 and uses the MB1 on his C tuba. He is an incredible player, and although you may have never heard of him, I can guarantee that you've HEARD him. #100daysofpractice #trumpet #trumpetcomebackplayer #comebackplayer Comeback day #110 New mouthpiece day. After swimming around in a cup that was slightly too large I downsized and am happy I did. I wanted to give the other mpc 4-6 weeks before making a move. My body is adapting and growing into trumpet playing again so no quick moves ~ “things” keep changing week to week. After a month it was clear that there was struggle going on. It felt like the lips were getting pinned inside the mpc from time to time. Arbans lip flexibility exercises immediately improved today. Yay! I’m adding some blues and jazz practice to the daily repertoire. Heads and a bit of improv. The improv is a very weak area but coming along quickly as I apply what I know on guitar to the trumpet and especially as I make time to transcribe what all you brilliant players “out there” are doing. I love how quickly and easy it is to jump around on the horn compared to guitar. And yes, the purple finger buttons were a gift to myself to start the New Year. Hope you all are well. Stay fierce.

Here’s a little timeline of this song: Sunday: @jenaroaustinjr and I were jamming and he whips out an incredible trumpet melody. Once he played it, I dusted off some old lyrics I was sitting on and was convinced it had to be more than just a moment in a jam session. It had to be in a song. Monday: I finish writing the song Tuesday: I produce the track Wednesday: I record vocals Skip to Friday: Jenaro comes to lay down trumpet on the track Saturday: Exodus was done …. …. …. …. …. …. …. This song was the first time anyone else other than myself was included in the recording process, and I feel so blessed and honored that it was with a good friend who’s helped me grow as a musician.
