Did you know that a large percentage of people who lose a significant amount of weight gain it back within a year? The problem then isn’t that they can’t lose weight but that people struggle to maintain the fat loss they have achieved long term. Behaviours and habits MUST change and this is exactly why I talk about creating new habits and behaviours with my clients ALL THE TIME. Here are 5 habits that successful people do to maintain their fat loss permanently. 1. They regularly weigh themselves, have a daily calorie goal, and/or control portion sizes. Monitoring body composition and nutrition in important in order to ensure fat loss is maintained long term. 2. They eat frequently. When we skip meals and go long periods of time without eating we can easily fall into overeating and making poor food choices because we are hungry! 3. They eat at home for the majority of their meals. We cant be certain of the calories consumed when eating out, even if you choose a “healthy” meal, It usually involves oil and/or butter that quickly add up in calories. Eat more of your meals at home and save eating out for special occasions. 4. They keep low calorie foods available at home. You won’t eat what’s not there. 5. They focus on consistency not perfection. Consistency with the small things every single day is key to achieving and sustaining fat loss. Habits and behaviors take time to build and you will have many times where you veer off track. The important thing is that if you do veer off track, you get straight back on and keep moving forward. Consistency, time, patience, habits, behaviours and a positive attitude is how permanent change will happen! 5 THINGS I WISH I KNEW ABOUT FAT-LOSS FROM THE START 1. Doing keto just puts you in a calorie deficit. It's not magic 2. Doing intermittent fasting is just skipping breakfast. It's not magic 3. Today has been a struggle... seriously lacking energy and would have happily stayed at home but I kept to my new routine and took myself off to 45 min Pilates followed by 45 min Body Blitz (tonight was a HIIT starter followed by dumbbell strength training) 💪🏻 I felt like I was hitting a wall in the second class but I just pushed as hard as could 🥵 I knew this day would come at some point but I'm just happy I kept my motivation! This morning, before taking my kids to school, my first son came to hug me(yeah he is a hugger, lol). Then he said, 'Mummy, you've slimmed down'. I was like, how did you know? He told me that prior to now, whenever he hugs me, his hand doesn't go round my body but now his hand can go round. Bloody good 🧛♂️- chocolate oats with blood oranges and crunchy almond butter Your daily dose of oats and vitamin C 🍊 The recipe is below: Oats: 1/2 cup rolled oats 3/4 cup milk of your choice (dairy, almond (my fav), soy, etc.) 3/4 cup water 1 Medjool date chopped 1 good Ts of cocoa powder Some cinnamon and/or vanilla extract Pinch of salt And if you want to give it a little extra twist: a tiny bit of star anise. Topping: 1-2 Blood oranges 1 Tbs crunchy almond butter Instructions: In a small saucepan, combine the oats, milk, water, chopped date, cinnamon / vanilla extract, cocoa powder and salt (and optionally the star anise). Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the porridge reaches your desired consistency. This should take about 5-7 minutes. In parallel, peel and slice the oranges. Squeeze the peel and collect the juice. Transfer the porridge to a bowl (and remove the star anis).
