We’re putting the finishing touches on “It Takes 2: Unexpected Pairings” before it opens to the public tomorrow! This exhibition explores the resonances and dissonances that arise when unrelated objects are set side by side.
For example,
@catherinelatson ’s Slippershell Gown, with a bodice made completely from seashells, dazzles alongside #WinslowHomer beautiful watercolor painting “The Shell Heap,” which depicts a fishing village, Homosassa, in Florida.
#JoeOverstreet’s structural painting entitled “Boxes” was carefully installed by our art handlers and
@mqtfas this week. See it compared to a set of #DonaldJudd etchings exploring the geometry of the box.
Last but not least, we are doing some house cleaning of Nybylwyck Hall for its debut in “It Takes 2”! This amazing 24- room Victorian dollhouse created by Mark O’Banks’ has 900+ miniature objects and an elaborate story that goes along with it. Many of you may know it from #HRMGlenview, now see it in a whole new light alongside JooYoung Choi’s painting “Journey to the Cosmic Womb.”
