So honestly? When I see weapons in the original - and that's extremely rare - it scares me a lot. Whether it's police officers, whom I meet from time to time, or the soldiers in Paris, who patrol the streets of Montmartre, heavily armed with MPs. What a feeling it must be to hold such giant guns in your hands. Or even swords. Personally, I always find it fascinating how naturally these weapons are wielded. Especially that theater scene in Romeo & Juliet... that nobody gets hurt! It all has to be trained somehow so that it becomes second nature and the actor can concentrate on his acting. If you think about it all, then actors are also kind of all-rounders, at least when they are so versatile and play many different roles, for which they then also prepare meticulously, like Richard Madden does. Singing, dancing, horseback riding, swinging swords, throwing knives, handling rifles and pistols, flying, fighting and acting along the way... admirable. But the greatest "weapon" this actor has is his talent! And that's huge! Sure, Richard can James Bond, no question! But I'm personally convinced that he has created a new type of spy here with Citadel and will not play another spy at the same time, whose type is more of a thing of the past. Well, whether this James Bond is now a worn-out character or whether it can be reinvented, even my daughter and I are quite controversial about it. But back to Citadel and Bodyguard. Once again Richard impressively proves how versatile he is. At first glance, one might think that both roles are similar, and yet they couldn't be more different. I think that in Citadel we see more of the tough, rather cold type of man, while this David Budd was more fundamentally injured. Although also hard and withdrawn, stubborn and not so easy to see through, there still remains a soft core that makes him vulnerable. I think the right picture in the top row of my collage just shows a new side of the actor Richard Madden that we haven't had the chance to experience before. We could already see that with Ikaris to some extent. I am very excited to see the range of excitement and acting that will be offered to us. I was already very impressed by this picture from Citadel, where Richard is holding such a "piece" (small side note: Peace is pronounced the same way and has the opposite meaning here) in his hand, and I'm also very curious to what extent Citadel will become an action series with a lot of lead (plumb). in Richard's previous films, fire scenes were very limited. In Bodyguard, for example, he only fired three shots, one of which, as is well known, was aimed at himself. In Lady Chatterly's Lover it was only one against rabbits. And in Klondike and The Hoodmaker he has a gun but doesn't use it. That could now be different with Citadel. That's why I'm also very curious to see whether we might also see pure "shooting", or whether the use of firearms is intelligent and limited to what is necessary. If I may be frank, I would wish for the latter. Actually, Richard Madden's name doesn't stand for such pointless shooter movies. ... These are probably thoughts that only I have. But I also like Richard as an actor mainly because of his previous choice of roles. Especially with Bodyguard, he proved - at least for me - that you can generate high tension without pointless shooting.
