There you are. I've been waiting for you.
QotD: Do you read your special editions?
I'm a firm believer that first and foremost, books are meant to be read. I take special care when I read my special editions (they don't leave my apartment, I don't read them during meals), but I'd love to read all my special editions at least once (if I plan rereads, I usually make sure I have a reading copy).
That, and there's a unique pleasure in reading absolutely beautiful books, and this #illumicrate edition of A Marvellous Light is one of the most beautiful books in my collection.
While this is my first time reading this particular edition, this is now my third time reading this book all the way through, nevermind all the times I've gone back to read specific passages. It came out *less than a year ago*, guys.
But there's something magical about it, really. The characters are just so perfectly realized, and fully developed. The writing is just cozy and warm and lovely. The plot keeps you on your toes. I don't know if I'd call the romance slow-burn, but it still takes time to develop fully and is so satisfying. The magic system is unique and uncomplicated. And the smut is really well-done. I don't read a lot of smut, so I don't have a lot of comparisons, but it's excellent.
Seriously, I absolutely recommend this Edwardian fantasy queer romance. I would not be surprised to find myself reading it for a fourth time in the next few months.
