ARKA JAIN University is at the forefront with regard to celebrating the spirit of festivities. To celebrate the gaiety surrounding the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Uttarayan – The Makar Sankranti Celebration 2023 was organized recently in the University Football Ground. It was a day-long carnival which included such competitions as Kite Making, Kite Flying, Rangoli Making, Design Your Atelier – Design Corners/ Studio along with putting up of games stalls, food stalls, stall by the NGO Kalamandir which exhibited handicrafts articles for display along with paying tribute to Swami Vivekanand (as the activity was a part of National Youth Week Celebration as well). The Guest on this occasion was Mr. Amitava Ghosh, Secretary at Kalamandir, an NGO works towards promoting the cause of women empowerment. Kalamandir enables tribal women to showcase their talents in craft making, Jute designing, household amenities and handicrafts thus encouraging it patrons to practice sustainable way of living along with encouraging the cause of woman entrepreneurs and supporting tribal artefacts. AJU has an MoU with Kalamandir thus furthering the causes which Kalamandir identifies with. The stall put up by Kalamandir received good response from the AJU fraternity. Along with the students, faculty and staff members of the University were part of the day-long festivities too which culminated in the prize and certificate distribution ceremony to the winners of the various competitions held. It was indeed a memorable occasion for everyone involved and it is events like this which enable the University towards ensuring a holistic approach towards the teaching-learning process as students learn by doing things beyond the classroom. Runbhoomi, the Annual Sports Meet of AJU, took place over a period of three days amidst the enthralling and captivating atmosphere at the University. The chill in the air of December Winter was not enough to deter the spirit of the participants as they participated with full enthusiasm across the various categories of sports events, namely, cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, discuss throw, shotput, chess, table tennis, 100 and 400 metre sprint, relay race, marathon among other events. The quest for glory beckoned all the Schools and their constituent Departments. The students from these Schools/ Departments battled it out during the three-day sports extravaganza wherein they shined in their own way. Sportsperson spirit was on display in every aspect of the Meet as a healthy competitive environment was cherished by one and all. Runbhoomi, the Annual Sports Meet of AJU, has been at the forefront with regard to ensuring that the holistic development of the students is ensured in every possible manner. In this regard, Runbhoomi was organized during December 22-24, 2022 in the University premises during which number of sports events were organized which witnessed participation from all the Schools and their constituent Departments. On the Final & Day Three of the Annual Sports Meet, Runbhoomi, of ARKA JAIN University witnessed the most intense battles of supremacy among the participating Schools and their Departments as the Quest for Glory reached its pinnacle, suitably reflected in the temperament of the participants who were duly celebrated by the onlookers. Each sporting event including cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, discus throw, shotput, chess, table tennis, 100 and 400-meter sprint, relay race, and marathon, witnessed energetic and spirited performances by the participants. The zeal was unmatched and the roaring of the crowd was deafening. The single-focused approach of the sportspersons was to make the title of “Champions” their own by getting the better of participants from the other Schools. At the end of the day, the glory beckoned the School of Engineering & IT which was crowned with the coveted title of "CHAMPIONS" as the school triumphed over others in all the events that were held. The School of Commerce and Management achieved second position. It was a visual treat for the crowd to watch them all fight for glory, with proper discipline, the famed AJU sportsperson spirit, and integrity. During all the efforts put up by the students, notable mentions were to be found about the faculty and staff members of the University for all of their efforts towards ensuring the success of the annual sports jamboree. Not only this, they enthusiastically participated in almost every event and put up a decent show all the while being encouraged by the crowd. And the Runbhoomi 2022 began with great pomp and show! The inaugural of the annual three-day sports meet of AJU took place in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Hasan Imam Malik, World-level Handball Coach; Vice Chancellor Dr. S.S. Razi, Director Mr. Amit Shrivastav, Registrar Mr. Jasbir Singh Dhanjal, and Sports Council Head Dr. Arvind Kumar Pandey. The ceremonial torch was lit by the dignitaries to declare the sports meet open. Dr. Imam Malik encouraged students by his words that one should play any game with discipline and team spirit whether you win or lose. When you win, it makes your hard work and dedication count. When you lose, it makes you learn where you were lacking which requires more effort on your part. Sports teach us several survival skills. If one can understand them, they lead us to be achievers in life. He was happy to note that a good number of participants have turned up to be a part of the sports meet. Dr. Arvind Kumar Pandey informed that all the Schools and their constituting Departments are participating with full enthusiasm across the various categories of sports events, namely, cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, discus throw, shotput, chess, table tennis, 100 and 400 meter sprint, relay race, marathon among other events. The day was witness to noticeable performances of students who presented and performed as per their interests, amped up the glamour quotient of the fest with a scintillating ramp walk, exhibited competitive moves on the battleground, technically advanced robo wars, beat boxing, rap show and much more left the audience and viewers craving for more. The students saw motivation in droves with the cheering done by the seniors, faculty members and the dignitaries who appreciated them for converting their ideas and imagination into reality. They were recognized for all their efforts and work. The winners in different categories were felicitated by the dignitaries thus giving a fitting end to the proceedings of the two-day celebration of technical prowess and persona in galore! The Chief Guest of the Inaugural session, Mr. Maun Prakash (Divisional Manager) Jharkhand State Forest Development Corporation, Guest of Honour Mr. Anand Dayal (MD) Indo-Danish Tool Room, Adityapur; Special Guest Mr. Ved Prakash (Principal) Tata Steel Technical Institute (NTTF), Burmamines; Guest of Event Mr. Sudhanshu (Tata Motors) were warmly welcomed by the Officials of the University. As the proceeding began, students performed traditionally and fusion dances and presented their renditions of songs.
