Run #11. oversharing. you may want to just skip it. First, i will say that this ends my journey of posting every run. I needed to build my support team to get me into double digit runs and y’all were amazing. second, it was 366 days ago that I ran my second 5k. it was in the desert with our friends. it was too much, pushing myself against better athletes, while working to defeat my own demons. I am certain that my glutteal tendon tear began on that day. Today, i’m back at it. todays run wasn’t about pace but it was about endurance and I did it (except those two times my thighs hit the emergency stop button). ran 45 minutes without stopping. it’s takes focus and concentration for me to do it. @robinrobertsgma and all the team at GMA also helped me focus as I was reading the captions. But here is the thing. My entire life I have been a target for negativity. bullies. abuse. growing up I was never enough. not for my family - but for the rest of the world around me. @coachbennett just posted about the anniversary of his brother’s passing. his brother played baseball and didn’t understand running. that is my sister. she didn’t understand me but growing up only she could pick on me - no one dared to attack me if she was around. his post really resonated with me. glad I still have my sister around. But hearing things like slob. faggot. lazy. fat ass. moron. idiot. each of these words, they take a toll and leave permanent indentations on persons soul. this journey is about so much more than just getting fit enough to run some races. it’s about finally making me believe that I am enough and worthy. It’s a long journey and it begins with me. 🎬💖Making Films & Making Friends What an epic 48hr round trip to Sydney & back... 🤯 Mini was scheduled for filming on Sunday for a small part in a kids movie with an American TV platform. We didn't get the best weather but they did get the shot! Or the take... OK it was done 2 takes. These girls nailed it! ❤️ They had the beautiful Sydney Harbour bridge in the background & the crew were amazing to work with. Meeting her fellow cast members in person for the first time was so great - they've been rehearsing via Zoom for the last 6 months! 😍 All round I'm super proud of this little chick for pushing through the nerves, staying committed to her rehearsals & memorising her lines. 💕 Most of all I'm grateful that we got to have a Mama + Mini weekend away & that I've been able to be with her on this project from start to finish. This time away really did open up some interesting conversations, some unexpected "growing" moments & created some memories that we'll never forget. It was a good reminder that we don’t always get things right the first time either 😉 🥰 The absolute bonus - she has made some beautiful new friends (so have I!) & found something she's really passionate about & isn't that what life's all about? Run #9 - my goal was to run for 36 minutes… But I was too fast out of the gate and I could never get my pace under control. It was also starting to rain and so I was wearing my Disneyland windbreaker jacket which was a new piece of equipment. I did take multiple walk breaks and yet my pace is still the fastest time since I started training on January 1. I also had a full breakfast this morning after sleeping in which was 2 cups of coffee and two pieces of toast. Normally I run in the morning before having anything to eat and I could absolutely feel the difference of feeling heavier because of the coffee and cups of water I’ve already consumed. I’m going to need to figure out how to properly hydrate and fuel if I want to be able to go further distances. I don’t feel bad about today’s run, but I don’t feel great about it either. I’m not celebrating the fact that I’m pushing myself to run too far or too fast.
