He recommended that I find a charity that means something to me personally. 🦄My daughter, Cadence, was born with a heart defect and underwent surgery last summer at 14 months old. Because of this, I searched for pediatric heart charities 💛This led me to the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation (@jmbhf ) and I submitted an inquiry for their 2024 team while telling them all about Cadence’s heart journey 🦄In an insane twist of fate, they ended up with an extra bib for THIS YEAR, and if I could commit to raising $8,500 in 32 days, the spot would be mine! Today is GIVING DAY for the 2023 BOSTON MARATHON - a day that the BAA, John Hancock, and all official charity partners including our grateful selves, are looking to surpass the previous record and raise $1.3M cumulatively in one day - TODAY (last year on this day, $1.2M was raised)! . We've got so much 💚 for every person that makes up our "Super 7", including: . Kristin Burnetta, Maggie Chory-Noyes, Julia DiNovi, Jarrod DiZazzo, Justin and Danielle Klee, and Kelley Morrissey, who together, have now surpassed $119K in our quest to raise $150K! . Each teammate has a different "why" in their heart - the reason that drove them each to want to take on this immense physical and fundraisingly challenging event but the common denominator for all is to help End ALS. All funds raised by our team will support critical ALS research while simultaneously providing equipment to individuals living with the disease now. . Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with the disease while in that same timeframe someone else loses their battle. We thank our runners for raising their hand to help change that statistic and we thank all who have given so generously. TODAY is #BostonMarathonGivingDay Last year, I decided to run the Boston Marathon, in honor of my late brother Joe, who was a dedicated member of the Boston Bulldogs Running Club until his death in June 2021. This will be my second Boston. I am running for my brother, for myself, for and in memory of the people, we have lost to addiction and their friends and family. The @bostonbulldogsrunning is so much more than a running club. Since today is #bostonmarathongivingday I reflect on my incredible experience last year. From personal goal setting, facing my fears and doubts, interacting with the great team at the @heatherabbottfoundation , being able to run with my pops (and seeing what he puts himself through every year😂) to receiving unconditional love and support from family, friends, strangers, and volunteers, on a beautiful day in April last year. It was genuinely one of the best days of my life. This year I will have a cold beer in hand cheering everyone on, however my dad IS running his 27th @bostonmarathon (which just typing makes me winded🥺) Thanks to all of you beautiful people we were able to raise well over $10k last year.
