20-mile tempo workout
The last long run before tapering starts for Chicago.
Got the job done at 70%ish effort, steady around 6min/mi pace.
I even managed to pick up the pace to 5:42/mi in the last mile. The total average of 6:02/mi is my target 2:38 marathon pace, and I did this today before the taper, despite having tired legs from running 109 miles this week. Back in March, just half a year ago, I had to put in 100% effort to run at the same pace when I did a 12K tempo on this pond with
@shurasaka for 127th Boston #boston127. If you commit yourself to it, a lot can change.
The weather was perfect, too. Tomorrow won’t be the same with Lee approaching.
2mi warm-up starting at 3:50am, 2mi cool-down, making it a total of 25mi long run in the morning before work 👍
It’s truly been a team effort.
@chrisrunninginspiration supported me throughout today, and
@naserjafari26.2 was also at the pond. He ran ahead, lighting the path for Chris and me with his light and cheering us on🙏 We’ve shared countless miles since July during this training cycle, and I’ve been fortunate to train with Gabe as well!
I’ve mostly adhered to my morning training plans; now, the tapering begins this weekend. I’m so grateful for completing all of them in the early hours, often starting at 4am!
Although Chris wasn’t initially planning to run in Chicago, we’re thrilled he got in at the very last minute. We’re excited to run the Chicago Marathon together! Please support his fundraising efforts.
