The cookie-like tart base was rather fragrant which complemented the lemon curd. There is no shortage of Western stalls in SG but one that sells old-school fried chicken, definitely a rare gem now 😍. Explored the Hamilton Road and noticed there's a few new cafes on the same stretch and @lunar.rabbit.boulangerie is one of them. The artisanal bakery was helmed by Elaine, the owner and executive baker and offered a variety of French pastries and bakes. • 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐭 ($𝟑.𝟖) They were very nice to offer to reheat our bakes but it was barely warm when we received it. That aside, the croissant was crispy, flaky and fluffy with some butteriness but could have been stronger and there's a slight bitterness from the crust. • 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧 ($𝟒.𝟖) Unlike the usual swirl, theirs come as a whole piece with a denser and slightly chewy texture on the inside which was a delight. The crust was more crunchy than crispy because of the caramelised sugar which we found to be a little hard. Hodunamu, which translate to Walnut Tree in Korea, is a hidden gem in Everton Park selling traditional Korean festive ricecakes. 🇰🇷🌈 Yall know this is legit when you see the shop helmed by Korean ajummas. There's not much rice cakes on display (probably have to pre-order online) so I just grabbed a box of this colourful looking rice cake. I actually asked what it is but the ajumma replied in Korean so I didn't understand anything HAHAHAH 🤣 But anyways, google and it's actually called 𝐌𝐮𝐣𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐞-𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐤 ($𝟓.𝟓) which features layered tteok of different colours. The steamed non-glutinous rice flour looked soft and fluffy but it's surprisingly dense with a chewy texture. Not much flavour going on except for subtle sweetness. 💬 TLDR: Tbh I only tried it because I have always seen it on Kdrama etc and wondered how it taste. AMK Curry Puff isn't located at AMK but Toa Payoh. The curry puff stall located in a coffeeshop prepares the puffs batch by batch so you get to enjoy it fresh, with different choices of fillings like yam with gingko nut. Got a 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐟𝐟 ($𝟏.𝟖) and was surprised it's pretty sizeable given the price. The crust is on the thicker side, but not an issue since it still achieved the perfect crispiness. The fillings was super generous as well and there's even a slice of hard boiled egg!! The DTF-style fried rice craze doesn't seem to stop and @mreggfriedrice located at Bishan is yet another addition to the endless egg fried rice stalls in SG. 🍚🍳 • 𝐄𝐠𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐩 ($𝟓.𝟗) The Taiwanese pearl rice was sufficiently coated with egg though the seasoning was on the lighter side. But feel free to mix in their housemade chilli that comes with fried garlic for extra flavour and crunch. The pork chop was surprising well-marinated so it's very flavourful and rather tender since it's thin-cut. • 𝐓𝐨𝐦 𝐘𝐮𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐭 ($𝟕.𝟗) The pearl rice was moist and perfectly soaked up the tom yum essence, literal burst of tangy-spiciness with every mouthful.
