Hereโs a little tease from #WesternStates100 as we followed @easy_dog + @nkbitter + @ultra.ryan + their amazing crews for a day in the Sierras. It truly takes a village & weโre grateful to document what it takes to prepare for a 100 mile race, especially Western States! @wser

Check out @Runninginsightmag 's recent article on our Trash Free Trails partnership! As trail runners, fast packers, and adventurers, it's important to protect the places we love! That's why we started Purposeful Adventures with @Trashfreetrails . Together, we're inspiring, informing, and equipping runners across the world to clean up their trails, parks, and communities they use and love every day.

Meet our athlete @KristePeoples ๐ Kriste believes running can change your life. When she's not adventuring along the trails of Coloradoโs Front Range, she works as a guide, speaker, and mindfulness meditation teacher to help runners expand their idea of adventure and find fun on the trail. She serves as the Executive Director of @WomensWilderness , a program that invites girls, women, and nonbinary people into outdoor adventures and to connect to an outdoor community ๐
Her advice on being new runners looking to find adventure in their life? โฌ๏ธ
"My advice is to 'find your why' and listen to your body. I hear lots of 'I'm too slow,' 'I'm too old for this,' 'I'm too new at this,' and it's upsetting that it's so commonplace at the start. I remind them that running trails is simply gonna be hard sometimes and that power hiking is part of it. Everything takes time. It's going to be challenging in ways you might not have expected and the way you do your thing will look different from the way others do it. Learning to identify - and modify - your own goals will be critical to enjoying this healthy new habit."

From rock climbing to biking, all runners should spend time away from pounding trails or pavement. Here are 4๏ธโฃ benefits of cross-training:
1๏ธโฃ Injury prevention: Running can be rough on bodies. Mixing in other sports can keep us running harder and longer throughout our lives.
2๏ธโฃ Increased fitness: Cross-training builds muscles to increase our power and speed.
3๏ธโฃ Greater enjoyment: We hear absence makes the heart grow fonder. Time away from running can make us more excited to return to it and enjoy other sports as well!
4๏ธโฃ Active recovery: Consider adding light workouts during long periods of recovery to build endurance and strength.
How do you cross train and why do you do it?
