Each dog has already been spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and is now ready to get started on their heartworm treatment in a foster home. Each heartworm treatment costs several hundred dollars and without treatment, the diagnosis is fatal so treatment is required. This Valentine’s season, we are asking for your help to heal the hearts of these sweet pups. We got you now, Aurora 💕 Our apologies for the graphic photos. This six month old little girls name is Aurora. She was found as a stray. These are not caused by fire according to Bluff City, but she definitely was up against something hot and has been burned more than likely trying to find shelter during the icy weather because these injuries Are not completely fresh. They may also be chemical burns. Right now we are not sure. So here we go again with a high medical case. Seems like we’re still trying to catch up with the bills for 2022 yesterday. We had two dogs go in for surgery. Today a dog went in for heartworm treatment. And we’ve recently taken in three more that are heartworm positive. We will get through this. We got you now, Nugget ❤️ If you’ve ever wondered what a dog looks like when it’s filled with fluid from heartworm disease, here you go. Excess fluid buildup in the abdomen makes the dog’s belly look swollen. Organ failure can also occur and impact the lungs, liver, and kidneys in addition to the heart. When we get applications, do a vet check, and find that the current pet is not on heartworm prevention, the application is not approved. There's NO way we're gonna risk any of our dogs not being protected. Yes, we will try to educate people about the importance of prevention. And we work to educate and help folks that honestly don’t know about heartworm prevention. But it's the ones that absolutely do know about prevention and choose not to protect their pets that we have no patience for. Nugget will be very, very lucky if she survives through this. She’s only three years old. And this disease is 100% preventable. Whatever the future brings for her, she won’t be alone. @justice4riona case update: THE STATE OF TENNESSE VS QUISHON BROWN CASE # C2300106 We were informed that on January 12th Quishon Brown was indicted on: 3 counts AGGRAVATED CRUELTY TO ANIMALS and 1 count SETTING FIRE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY OR LAND. He was arraigned (via video) on January 18th. The judge read the criminal charges against the accused. Quishon Brown submitted a "AFFIDAVIT OF INDIGENCY” which is a form that tells the court you cannot afford the fees related to your case. If the clerk or a judge approves the form, you will not have to pay. He was appointed an attorney. Quishon Brown is scheduled for his next report date: Feb 1st 9:00 am. Goose update 🦆 Goose is what we call “broke broke” 😞 Upon examination, the vet determined that he was definitely hit by a car and that sadly these injuries are not fresh. This poor boy has been suffering for some time. 💔 He also has a lot of motor oil on his coat. He should be white. That’s how dirty he is. In any event, he’s safe at our vet’s office and he will get the surgery that he needs. He will also be neutered while sedated. We always have options when we pull these dogs. We know that it will be a medical expense. We know that we need a foster that can keep them and care for them for several weeks and sometimes, like Goose’s case, even several months. Goose is in excellent hands and has a team of experts to help him now. And when he’s ready to leave the hospital, he has an incredible, experienced foster family who stepped up and is waiting to care for him and love on him through his healing. 💕 We are 100% based on donations and it’s only through donations that we can help dogs like Goose. That’s what being a nonprofit means, we are always trying to raise money for our cause. So, among all the other medical cases we have, several of which are expensive heartworm cases, sweet Goose has now been added to the roster. 💸 Please donate if you can. We got you now, Goose ❤️ Sweet Goose is a two year old #doodle mix. He was pulled today from Memphis Animal Services and we think he was hit by a car. He is suffering from a possible dislocated hip and fractures. He was brought to our amazing vet at Bluff City today and has an incredible foster lined up for him once he’s ready.
