My passion for Interior Design, Decorating & Antiquing started at a very young age. I recall vividly walking home from kindergarten & spotting two pieces of framed art leaning against a garbage can in the back lane near my home. One was an abstract modern piece and the other was a small plaster art picture of a young girl in a cream dress. Of course these pieces came home with me. All the other children walked by and didn’t even notice them. My first Vintage Find which today would be a wonderful addition to one’s Gallery Wall 🖼️
As a young Mennonite girl I’d say my first attempt at creating a living space was on my Grandparents Farm in Starbuck, Manitoba. Attached to the old weathered red barn was a lean to of sorts which housed the farm cats. After a tradition roasted chicken Sunday dinner I was given the job of taking the greasy roaster out to the lean-to-shed for the farm cats. While I waited for the cats to lap up the chicken grease I though…I should make this cat house much nicer. So I commenced to do so moving about a bunch of old wooden crates & furniture.
I have shared these childhood memories on this
@worldinteriordesign day as I wish to celebrate all those young children who have become or one day will become an Interior Designer & Decorator.
