On first walk through of this incredible @benjaminjohnstondesign project, we almost crossed shooting this pantry off the to-do list because it was quite literally a tall order to outfit it. But I truly believed in the beauty of this space. And really, when else would I get to style a blue and maroon pantry? So I shopped (and shopped some more), @benjaminjohnstondesign added a few curated extras (marble egg for the win), @juliesoefer found the right angles and the light, and @megan.hotze.editorial got editorial eyes on the final product. Every photo has a story to tell, and for me, this one will always be about the power of perseverance. When I arrived solo at this location and realized the magnitude of what needed to be created, I sat on the farmhouse steps and cried. It seemed impossible. I was just one stylist without an assistant in the middle of farmland. How could I create a cover try and set the scene for a party with a half dozen models and prop style a half dozen food dishes within 24 hours? Turns out it was best to just do a little antique shopping. I am so grateful to @thestonehouseroad (who so graciously shared some of her vintage treasures with me) and to @jdonnelly_naturephotography and @rachelfromiowa who helped unload dozens of pumpkins, climbed ladders, battled red ants, moved furniture, and generally pitched in with whatever was on the to-do list so we could make fall entertaining look effortless.
