#Repost @mozaikphilanthropy ・・・ ARTRISE COLLECTIVE PUBLIC ART INTERVENTION: Art from the first 90 days of the revolution for freedom in Iran was projected onto the façade of the @asianartmuseum of San Francisco, nightly between January 26th - January 28th, 2023. Inspired by a women-led revolution in Iran, artists have been creating paintings, drawings, posters, digital art, animation, videos, and short films around the theme of WOMAN LIFE FREEDOM. In collaboration with @mozaikphilanthropy , through a global open call, a powerfully resonant selection of artworks made within Iran and across its borders were curated through a blind review process. Some additional artworks were commissioned to reflect the diversity of the movement. Given that many of the exhibited artists reside in Iran, in consideration of significant risks involved for those who support the protest movement, all of the artworks are shown anonymously. The event is dedicated to all those who have and continue to risk their lives for freedom. «ابوالفضل امیر عطایی» Abolfazl Amir Ataie, a 16-year-old protester from Shahr-e Rey, was gravely injured by a point-blank tear gas shot by Islamic republic forces on September 21, 2022. The incident caused extensive damage to his skull and neural arteries, leaving him paralyzed with only his eyes able to move. «داستان دو واقعیت» I want to share with you my latest painting, "A Tale of Two Realities," which pays tribute to the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and the unwavering pursuit of hope, freedom, and a brighter future for all Iranians, especially Iranian women who have played a significant role in promoting this movement. The painting portrays a woman standing in a dim and somber room. Her black attire and downcast demeanor reflect the oppressive reality she endures. However, the woman's gaze is drawn to a parallel world where her liberated self stands joyfully in the light, adorned in a radiant red dress with her hair cascading freely. This image symbolizes freedom and self-expression. The background of the parallel world is filled with light, and flowers surround her, representing life and freedom. The painting depicts circles on either side of the woman's head, with images inside that represent her thoughts in both worlds. In the darker world, the circle portrays a revolution, mirroring the current movement in Iran, where a woman holding scissors and a flag symbolizes the Iranian tradition of cutting hair in protest. In the parallel world, the circle shows the woman dancing in a stunning red dress, with her flowing hair causing the oppressors to drown in their turbans. She extends the sun from her parallel world to her darker reality, symbolizing an invitation to hope, life, and freedom.
