Sunny insists they should go past it and venture beyond their five acres. His brothers and sister reluctantly agree, and they set off on a paw-some adventure! After seeing the entire city, tasting spaghetti, and being chased down by a conniving coyote, the pets are ready to go home. But they're lost. Well, that's what they think until Bear tells them a good moral. A couple more adventures put them all on even footing, working together to vanquish–well, we can't possibly spoil any more details for you! Ultimately, the pets find they're never lost when they're with family. Because whenever you're with family, you're home.
Homestead lesson learned. I’ll never forget that time we bought a used chicken coop thinking we were getting a great deal and it was infested with poultry ticks! A few facts about poultry ticks. 1. Poultry ticks hide in the crevices of the coop and wait until the birds are fast asleep and come out to feast on them for 30 min and then retreat back to the cracks of the coop until the next evening. 2. Poultry ticks can go for up to 4 years without a blood meal. 3. Poultry ticks are hard to kill. The easiest way to kill them is to take the coop apart and burn them with a torch or apply permethrin 10 to every part of the coop and let dry. 4. Since chickens don’t have a lot of blood, poultry ticks can make the chickens anemic and eventually kill an entire flock. You may not know what’s going on since you can’t see them because they hide during the day when you’re around the coop. After taking the coop apart and applying a few applications of permethrin 10, giving it a good power washing, some burning with a torch, a deep clean of ammonia and another power wash, and then another deep clean of dish detergent and bleach followed by a power wash, we are proud to announce we have a tick free, squeaky clean chicken coop that is ready for our flock whenever the Lord gives us a green light! We also let the coop sit, unassembled, under a tarp at the far end of our land for an entire year. Now after a new paint job and hardware cloth on the windows, to keep critters out, she’ll be as good as new! Our lesson learned is don’t buy a used chicken coop to save money. If you do make sure to take it apart, if possible, and even if there are no ticks you should clean it thoroughly because the previous flock could have had a sickness of some kind. Ammonia kills coccidiosis, which can live for up to a year, and bleach and dish soap kills marek’s disease, which can live for up to a year and a half . #overezchickencoop #overezchickencoops #chickencoop #homesteadlessons

I remember watching The Notebook over and over and dreaming of a love like Noah and Allie had. A love that was young, adventurous, faithful, fun and lasting... I even made a list of what I hoped for in a husband and enjoyed dreaming of our future house, kids and life together. Never did I imagine that the Lord would bless me with all He has. It’s surreal sometimes to look around and remember how I tried to do life my own way, time and time again, to just end up heartbroken and running to my Father in tears because my prayer to find “the one” wasn’t happening like I planned. Little did I know God had bigger and better plans, He just wanted my eyes focused on Him FIRST. His plan was for me to marry a sweet boy I knew from high school choir with a voice that will melt your heart. Despite various external trials and tribulations along the way (loosing my dad to cancer, family strain, job loss, personal cancer scare, etc) we’d buy some land, build our forever home, and raise our 3 children here with love, laughter, fellowship, faith and service. I’m honored, to say the least. God has been immensely gracious to me all of these years. All the glory to Him!
