It’s been a long time coming… Hi 😃 it’s me. My name is Flor and I am the girl behind this account. At the end of 2020, I decided to open this account to document my journey through building my dream home. I used instagram to get me through two of the longest and hardest years of my life. Aside from the pandemic, I was also working full time as a PA, had just had my last baby and navigating being a mom of three under 5. My husband and I decided to sell our first home and embark on a journey of building again. Building our home has been a blessing. I’m just a normal person like you. I’ve worked hard all my life and truly believe we are capable of anything and creating a life we love. This home is a symbol of grit and God’s promises. There’s so much to the story that I keep private but this account helped me stay sane through a lot of ups and downs. It also helped me remember that when we show up as ourselves, you can easily build a community of supporters and create new friendships. Black or white doors? When I finally decided on black doors, I remember debating whether I should do them all the same or not. I decided that for doors that I didn’t want to stand out (ie. the AC or linen closet) or if it didn’t vibe with the mood of the room (ie. girly bathroom for my daughter), I’d keep them white. The chunkier the better When I designing my home I KNEW I wanted large columns (the chunkier the better 😉). My house was going to be very white and I needed something to break it up and provide warmth. When looking at the cost (and size) of what we wanted, we knew wrapping the columns would be the best bet. Although we had a little hiccup during framing (they should’ve been 12” and ended up 13”— hence the two boards per side), I loved the final product and would do it all over again.
