The Pillars of Africa.
*
It’s 5am and broom’s in hand, chewing stick lodged in between the teeth. Slippers on and she’s out there to usher in the new day. By 6am she’s washed down, dressed, geared up and ready to go bring home what will sustain her kids.
African women and women in general have been the pilllars of civilisations for centuries. Men will go win wars, hit metals, sweat to provide for their families, but at the end, it’s the woman who puts everything together and makes it perfect. The resilience and strength of the African woman will be celebrated till humanity’s last day.
This is dedicated to my two late Grandmothers and to all African women, I am who I am because of you. Miss you.
