I think its fair to assume most people like tacos and this includes Toronto’s very own @champagnepapi . I recently stumbled across a @youtube video of Drake’s former chef @chefkaykay dishing out some stories and sharing her shrimp taco recipe she used to make for Champagne Papi himself. If you’re a @bougiefoodie24 follower, you know I LOVE tacos and when I saw @chefkaykay video, I was instantly craving one, so I had to make some to satisfy that craving 😋. I made them like I always do, the only element of her recipe I tried was adding pickled juice to the cabbage slaw and it added a nice tangy flavour which I loved. She used pickled jalapeño juice, I used pickled pickle juice – simply because I added heat to 2 other elements of my dish. I’ve made shrimp tacos many times and they are always FANTASTIC! Orange Chicken 🍊- when you crave Asian takeout, without having to step out! Create easy and delicious weekday meals that look and taste better than take out and probably costs less! This meal was very delicious, didn’t require too many ingredients, most of which you likely already have in your pantry. The only ingredient I was missing was fresh citrus fruit, however, fresh is always my preference. Grated rind adds an abundance of freshness and potent flavours, too bad I didn’t have it. My sweet Bougie Bakers 👩‍🍳, I gave you a quick preview last night and tonight, I would like to introduce the production of my Tres Leche cake. If I can tell you one thing about baking, it would be…, “don’t rush a sweet thang 😜. I took my 1st attempt at making a Tres Leche cake/Milk Cake, but not just any Tres Leche (hair flip) but a @lotusbiscoffus Tres Leche. Now let me tell you, it was multiple steps which although are not difficult, it was time consuming. But I assure you, it was sooooo worth it 😋. This decadent sponge cake drenched in a milk glaze and topped off with a whipped topping is a heavenly sweet treat you will love! Surprisingly enough, the very 1st time I ever tried a Tres Leche cake was 1 month ago! I’m the Bougie Foodie, this should be a ‘been there, tried that’ for me…, but there’s a first for everything! @therubymanor is hosting a number of learning sessions and I jumped at the opportunity to attend their food photography class. Whether you’re a seasoned @bougiefoodie24 follower or are new to my page (welcome BTW 😉) I LOVE food and everything about it! I have a friend @ridabatool01 who gave me a crash course on photo editing back in 2018, which has come a long way. But it was time for me to take things a bit further and really hone in on new skills that will further enhance my content. When I was in school, I always sat at the back of the classroom to avoid being asked questions and funny enough, as an adult, I’m front row and center trying to soak up every juicy bit of knowledge! I wish I had sat a bit further back to get better footage of the slides, but oh well! The class was led by Diana Muresan @craft_and_muse who did a fantastic job walking us through theory behind food photography, followed by a hands on practical component which really allowed you to understand how to prepare for the perfect shot! If you tackled the polls on my Instagram stories today – the purpose was to test how you see and respond to images of food. Most people are immediately drawn to a more aesthetically pleasing images, even if it’s the exact same meal – plating, lighting, ambiance all play a part in curating the perfect picture. Happy ‘Galentines Day’ to all my ladies! Wether you’re single or married, the one thing we all can agree upon is a Galentines themed pyjama party! I visited Goldie’s Museum for the first time and it was sooo worth the drive to Niagara Falls on a weeknight! First let me just talk about the venue, it’s one of a kind! There are several installations throughout the museum perfect for photoshoots, videos and content creation. You can also host private events here, how cool is that? Next, let’s talk about the owner Brianna, she’s a very sweet person, an absolute pleasure to deal with and not only is she beautiful, but also a very smart and talented business woman. Last but not least, let’s talk about the event! It was such a fun time, I did not want to leave! They provided a spread of delicious sweet and savoury delights, endless mimosas, party music and an event full of really cool women who love pink, love a girls night out and best of all, love having fun! Sundays are for brunching, better yet, make it a birthday brunch 🥳! I recently celebrated my birthday and booked a number of restaurants I’ve been wanting to try, including Hexagon Restaurant located in downtown Oakville. It was a picture perfect winter day with the prettiest snowfall and if you look close enough at the first slide, you will see it through the window. They have a lovely contemporary design and although its not on the brunch menu, we got to try the Pain Perdue which was absolutely delicious! I highly suggest you get that and the sauce that was added on top was complete bliss! After 2 years of covid birthdays, I had to go all out this year! I booked reservations at various restaurants with different people, but the most memorable of all would have to be Mademoiselle Restaurant on King West, Toronto. The venue itself stands out amongst any other in the city of Toronto, with 2 floors of the most spectacular decor, ambiance and amazing food. This was my 1st time and I will go back for sure, it is so worth it!
