And just like that… My first @nyfw runway show — done. Living this dream proves to show how powerful our mind is, and that we truly are what our thoughts create. For Collection 5, I found myself reminiscing about my favorite memories and how lights can change your perception of a recollection. Whether it is man-made lights for cinematic red carpet moments, twinkling cities visible from an airplane or phenomena created from the Earth, like the aurora borealis. These lights shimmer across the skies and can be seen from miles away. There’s something quite beautiful about it. I found myself in a reverie thinking about these scenes.  For this Demi-Couture eveningwear collection, I explored the colors of the aurora borealis, ranging from the deepest plums, to the lightest feather grays. There are a multitude of silhouettes throughout the collection including my signature grand tulle & exposed corsets to modern, floor dusting gowns with grandiose bows finished with photogenic trains. Inspired by the dark skies, a strapless gown’s trim is reminiscent of day breaking through night. The collection finishes with a fresh exploration of dramatic hand draped armlet details that mimic the shape of clouds. There’s a sense of romanticism in the styles which are created with the softest, most lush silks, to intricate Guipure lace dusted with crystals shining like stars in the abyss. This collection is truly opulent and creates a reverie. –AK Thank you @danielmartin , your talent + vision have taken my girls & designs to places that only exist in the stars, a big hug to you & your whole team + Tatcha & TWG. But I’ve always emphasized the deeper emotions that women feel during their big day, as well as the deeper emotions that I feel while creating my bridal pieces. Drawing a similar inspiration to the aforementioned collection, Kwon turned to the iconic 2004 Chanel No. 5 commercial featuring actress Nicole Kidman for his bridal collection as well. He wants his brides to feel the star power and elegance of a Hollywood A-lister.   At the heart of this season are the fabrics — rich, luxurious, opulent. Capturing the dynamism and polish of the red carpet, the pieces captivate from every angle. Guipure lace dusted with crystals twinkle like stars in the abyss, metallic lurex threads weave into pieces like flashes of lightning, and Kwon’s signature 3D-floral is reintroduced in a mini dress made from layers of a brushed golden brocade fabric accented with hand-draped tulle. Collection 3 - reverie | The debut eveningwear collection | SS23 “This year has been filled with one magical moment after another and for Collection 3, I wanted to capture that feeling of the beautiful and the unexpected. To me, women continue to discover new sides to themselves every day and that’s why my first series of eveningwear bridges the fantasy with reality. I reflected on memories from my early childhood, remembering a Chanel No. 5 commercial with Nicole Kidman on television, playing ‘Claire de Lune’ as the themed music. There was something about that red carpet moment that seemed so different, so ethereal, that I wanted to be a part of. The crystallized textures and opulent colors in this collection were inspired by my first flight to Los Angeles, where I was captivated by the city grids and lavish lights from an aerial view. At the heart of this season are the fabrics — rich, luxurious, opulent. Capturing the dynamism and polish of the red carpet, the pieces captivate from every angle. Guipure lace dusted with crystals twinkle like stars in the abyss, metallic lurex threads weave into pieces like flashes of lightning, and my signature 3D-floral is reintroduced in an ombré palette mirroring the sky’s natural progression. This idea of taking something ever-changing and reducing it to a single moment recalls my own journey of self-discovery when I moved from Colorado to California.  When we paused life more than two years ago, a sense of fantasy and drama lived in suspended animation. Now, it seems appropriate, but also the right time to celebrate with occasion. As we transition from summer into fall and very soon, winter, we are thrilled for our upcoming winter brides 🤍👰🏻‍♀️. Featured here is Venus, a long-sleeve bodysuit that's separate from the gown, offering two looks in one. All completed with a sea foam, cloud-like lace macramé.
