Paris, France 🇫🇷: Woohoo, after close to a year of dieting in preparation for my wedding last Dec, I am finally back on carbs + desserts! ✨
Really happy that I kickstarted the year with a croissant hunt to find my favourite croissant in Paris! 🥐🥐🥐
To my surprise, each croissant tasted soooo different, it’s really quite difficult to pinpoint which is the BEST croissant, but here’s my ranking based on my personal preference (YES, I tried 6 different croissants during my honeymoon in Paris 🤣):
1.
@boulangeriemamiche (€1.40)
* My favourite croissant in Paris! It’s super fragrant, very buttery and has a sweet aftertaste! 🧈
* Texture wise it’s flaky, crunchy and slightly dense!
* Takeaway only and queue started to form when we arrived at 9.20am.
2.
@liberte.paris (€1.40)
* This croissant is definitely a strong contender! It’s not as buttery as some other croissants, but really fluffy, crispy and has an airy texture.
* I was genuinely surprised that the edges of the croissant melted in my mouth!
* Plus point: it’s a cute cafe and you can dine in for breakfast or lunch! ☕️
3.
@cedricgroletopera (€4.00)
* This croissant looks super aesthetic! 😍 It’s definitely the prettiest pastry I’ve had in my life!
* It has many defined layers and very good structure.
* Texture-wise, it’s soft on the inside, somewhat crunchy on the outside.
* However, it wasn’t fragrant and lacked a buttery aftertaste. The croissant as a whole felt relatively light.
* Takeaway - I was second in line and started queuing at 8am on a weekday. I don’t think it’s worth the 1.5-hour queue but perhaps I might return for a reservation instead to try their other sweet treats!
* Note: other sweet treats are only available from 10:30ish onwards, so I was disappointed that I couldn’t try their signature Paris-Brest Flower or Chocolate Flower!
4.
@maison_isabelle (€1.20)
* Winner of the 2018 prize for the ‘best all butter croissant’ in Paris!
* It’s buttery, crispy, dense and quite a sweet croissant.
* But it’s not flaky, slightly dry and I didn’t enjoy it as much as the rest.
* Takeaway only.
