Recovered and thinking about all of the wonderful talented special people I got to spend my weekend with — thanks @maap.cc and specifically @ianhunterelliott for putting this all together, @_ryanhill_ + the @stvdium boys Duncan and Sammy for capturing it, @wilderness for sending Bryan and Johnny to cook beautiful fresh meals for us and make sure we generally had everything we needed, @chrisburkard for gracefully guiding us through his backyard with lots of smiles and encouraging words, and for @jefffalo @dricthedad + @gemmavegan for being my literal heroes, the sources of my inspiration, and icons for badassery and grit. I’d do it all again tomorrow….it was a privilege to unplug, dial in, + bear witness to a lush, alive landscape and the perseverance and kindness of other people (and to find some of those qualities within myself too). ᕙ(⇀‸↼‵‵)ᕗ

Trip back somewhere in 2018 #Death Valley National Park #1 🌋🏜️ #Ubehe Crater 🌋 We put this scenic spot as our goodbye stop in Death Valley, where you don’t have to hike, and the car can directly stop at the point. After this unique spot, we ended this trip with peaceful sunset in this Mars-looking valley. If you would like to wander down, you can, but we didn’t as we were a little exhausted for the whole day and still had 5 hours drive back to San Diego on the way. Ubehebe Crater is a maars volcano created by a phreatic eruption two to seven thousand years ago. Hot magma converted groundwater into steam, creating intense pressure and explosion. The result was a half-mile-wide crater surrounded by a large cinder field. Ubehebe Crater is about a half-mile wide and close to 750 feet deep. There are three main hiking paths: one that goes around the crater and is about 3 miles long, another that goes into the crater and is not as long as it is difficult with its 700 feet of elevation loss, and about a mile walk that leads to the small crater known as Little Hebe. Even if you are not a fan of hiking, you can pull up in your car at the parking lot and take a look before proceeding.
