This lunar formation, titled Sinus Iridum, is better known by its more poetic name, the Bay of Rainbows 🌈 This 260-kilometer-wide "bay" is filled with basaltic lavas and pockmarked by a handful of tiny craters. The real showstopper, however, is the Jura Mountain range surrounding the Bay. Avani Soares captured this image from the Parsec Observatory in Brazil on November 5, 2022. 🔭Equipment used: - Celestron C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope - ZWO ASI290MM camera - IR-Pass 685-nm filter Follow us for more great astrophotography, and subscribe to S&T for the latest astronomy and space exploration news.
